Preview for Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions will look to end the Minnesota Vikings’ undefeated start to the 2026 NFL season when their NFC North rivals meet at Ford Field on Sunday.
Minnesota is the only undefeated team in the league to win all of its first six games, while Detroit has a 4-2 record and the opportunity to close the gap on the top of the division.
The Lions have once again established themselves as one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the NFL, with quarterback Jared Goff getting off to an impressive start to the campaign.
Goff completed 150 of 223 pass attempts for 1,788 yards and 14 touchdowns.
His Amon-Ra St. His partnership with Brown continues to dominate Detroit’s offense, with the wide receiver recording 46 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns.
Jameson Williams and tight end Sam LaPorta provide additional options in the passing game, while Jahmyr Gibbs is especially effective on the ground.
Gibbs rushed for 620 yards and seven touchdowns on 134 carries, averaging over 4.6 yards per attempt.
Minnesota has been outstanding defensively through the first few weeks, allowing just 62 points in six games.
Kevin O’Connell’s side are averaging just 10.3 points per contest, the best defensive record in the NFL.
The Vikings have already beaten division rivals Green Bay and Chicago, and another win on Sunday would solidify their position atop the NFC North.
Their last success came against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, with Minnesota winning 16-10 to preserve their perfect record.
However, the Vikings haven’t always been convincing on offense.
Quarterback Kyler Murray completed 14 of 24 passes for just 150 yards against Indianapolis, though he threw one touchdown and missed an interception.
Minnesota has often relied on its defense and special teams to win close games, with kicker Will Reichard converting 18 of his 19 field goal attempts this season.
Justin Jefferson remains the Vikings’ top receiving threat, but he has just one touchdown in his last four games after starting the campaign with two against Green Bay.
