Estevao could join Chelsea on loan in January, but the Blues have reportedly set three firm conditions that any suitors, including Paris Saint-Germain, would have to meet.
The 19-year-old right-sided midfielder arrived from Brazil for £38m (€45m) in the summer of 2025, but has played just 172 minutes in eight games this season under manager Xabi Alonso. He has not made a single Premier League start and frustration is said to be mounting as he considers his options for next month’s window.
PSG are ready to add a winger after Khvicha Kvaratshelia was injured and left-footed Estevao has been linked with the French capital. According to AS, “Barcelona” is also interested.
Estevao transfer: What are Chelsea’s three conditions?
According to Team Talk, Chelsea would only sanction a loan, and only if three boxes were ticked. A permanent departure is strongly ruled out, as the idea on the English side is not to lose control of the winger.
- Only with credit, no possibility to buy. If all goes well, the contract could be extended by one year from next summer.
- The new club pays his entire salary. Capology puts his UK earnings at £6.3m (€7.4m) a year.
- Guaranteed playtime. Chelsea want a guarantee that he will get significant minutes.
Why might PSG struggle to meet Estevao’s demands?
Wages should not scare PSG. The promise of playtime is the sticking point. Paris don’t guarantee their signing and even less guarantee a loanee who probably doesn’t have a long-term future at the club.
Chelsea are reportedly not averse to seeing Estevao develop under Luis Enrique, who is known for helping young players progress. Asked about recruitment in the wake of Kvaratschelia’s injury, the Spaniard said no injury meant signing a new player, although he did not think PSG should automatically be active in the winter market. It could also be a sign that Paris will not succumb to price increases around its targets.
PSG have also been linked with Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza, and the two-time European champions could still turn to Chelsea instead.
Estevao to PSG: what next?
For Chelsea, it’s about protecting an expensive asset while regaining the playing time he’s lost. We reported earlier this week how the Blues were chasing another teenage prospect and the club have already made half a billion euros in outgoing transfers this year, so they are in no rush to sell cheap.
Unless the final demand is withdrawn from negotiations, it seems unlikely to see Estevao in a PSG shirt this winter, even if the prospect is exciting in itself.
Author’s opinion
Credit makes sense to everyone but PSG pride. Chelsea retain the rights to the Brazilian, who they paid £38m for, and Estevao is getting the minutes the fifth-placed side can’t offer him with his determined attack. Whether Luis Enrique promises a role to the six-month loanee is another matter, and that alone could decide where the winger spends the second half of the season.
