Browns Make 2 Squad Moves Ahead of Jets Game

The Cleveland Browns are dealing with some injury issues on the defensive line heading into their Week 5 game against the New York Jets. Mason Graham, Mike Hall Jr. and Kalia Davis were each ruled out.

Fortunately, the Browns have players who can come off the practice squad, and they announced two roster moves on Saturday, promoting Sam Kamara and Chris Williams.

“We promoted DT Sam Kamara and DT Chris Williams from the practice squad,” the Browns said.

Kamara has played 18 games in Cleveland since 2022, including 11 in the 2024 season. In those appearances, he has 28 combined tackles and five tackles for loss, but no sacks or quarterback hits.

The 28-year-old re-signed with the Browns earlier in the season but was waived on cutoff day. He was signed to the practice squad shortly after.

Williams played in 44 NFL games for the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, including 17 games for Chicago in 2024. He has 43 combined tackles, 4.0 sacks and 10 QB hits.

Another 28-year-old was released by the Atlanta Falcons on cutoff day and signed to the Browns’ practice squad. He was sidelined after the season opener, then brought back this week with the team dealing with those injuries.

Graham suffered the foot injury in the first quarter of the Browns’ 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday. He was coming off a breakout season with four sacks in the first three games, second in the NFL, and is expected to be out for several weeks, though not placed on injured reserve.

Hall left the game against the Steelers with a serious leg injury, but he was able to return and had one of Cleveland’s Aaron Rodgers’ five sacks. However, an ankle injury will keep him out this week.

Davis was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. But the four cannot play with an injury.

With a win, the Browns could go 4-1 for the first time since 2021, and Kamara and Williams could be crucial to that effort.
