Inter Milan fought back from two goals down to hold Roma 1-1 in a top-flight six-pointer on Saturday for a third consecutive Serie A match. Christian Chivu’s side recovered from a huge half-time deficit to deny Roma a first home win in this competition since 2016.
The game couldn’t have started worse for the defending champions, with Roma taking an early lead through Manu Kone, who latched on to Nahuel Molina’s cross to open the door to the 2026/27 season. Inter had a great chance to equalize but Jan Bicek failed to beat Milan Sveral in a one-on-one situation.
Lautaro Martinez squandered another promising opportunity. Federico Di Marco’s low cross at the far post was met by El Toro but he failed to convert. Roma punished Inter for wasted shots late in the first half, with Cone doubling the lead from close range.
However, Inter Milan pulled a goal back in the first minute of the second half. Lautaro was lucky enough to score with his left foot, helping the visiting team reverse course. The Argentinian superstar equalized with a vicious strike in the 79th minute to keep Inter Milan’s unbeaten start to Serie A intact.

Josep Martinez – 6/10
The Spaniard was unable to prevent Cone’s first Roma brace as his defenders failed him twice. A close-range save from Donyell Mullen kept Inter in the game.
Jan Bicek – 5/10
As well as flicking off a sitter midway through the first half, the German centre-back also lost track of Gianluca Mancini, who involuntarily set up Cone for Roma’s second goal.
Manuel Akanji – 6/10
Although he was the only Inter center back to fulfill his promise in the opening 45 minutes, he was lucky to only receive a yellow card for his tackle on Mullen at half-time.
Alessandro Bastoni – 5/10
The Italian star had a terrible first half, performing well below his high standards and defending too slowly to break the deadlock.
Federico DiMarco – 6/10
Roma’s quick transition exposed Dimarco’s defensive weaknesses, with both of Roma’s goals coming from his flank. However, he did well in the final third and almost set up Latuaro.
Curtis Jones – 5/10
The former Liverpool ace often found himself second best in physical encounters. Under the intense pressure of Roma, his technical qualities could not be brought into play.
Peter Zielinski – 6/10
Deployed as a playmaker at the back in the absence of Hakan Calhanoglu, Zielinski struggled to provide the much-needed creativity Inter Milan needed to unlock Roma’s stubborn backline.
Nicolo Barrera – 6/10
As ever, the diminutive midfielder fought valiantly with every possession, but like his midfield colleagues, he was unable to make his mark in the game. His relentless running was still evident, but Roma’s tight formation limited his influence in the final third.
Andy Diouf – 7/10
Inter’s makeshift full-backs performed well defensively but provided few attacking opportunities, at least in the first half. However, he integrated into the game after the break and posed a real threat to Roma’s defense on the right wing.
Marcus Thuram – 8/10
After an almost anonymous first half, the French striker set up Inter’s first goal with a delightful counterattack. He played an important role in Inter Milan’s second-half resurgence.
Lautaro Martinez – 9/10
The Nerazzurri talisman was unfazed by his early mistakes and struck with his weaker right foot to get Inter back in the game. He then hit a hard-hit half-volley to save a point for his team.
